The Piedmont Pepper Pod was seeded in 1991 by a vote of the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) Great Peppers. We are the sponsoring body for CASI cook-offs within the state of North Carolina and annually work with several organizations across the state to promote chili and raise money for charity. 

Currently, and in the past, we sponsor cook-offs in Statesville, Love Valley, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Durham, Spencer, Mocksville, and Stokesdale. All cook-offs proceeds benefit local charities such as:

• Epilepsy Information Service of Wake Forest University

• Epilepsy Foundation of North Carolina

• Elks Charities

• Boys and Girls Clubs

• Local fire departments

• Camp Carefree

• March of Dimes

• Special Olympics

In years past, cook-offs held in NC have raised more than $120,000 annually.
